Chief White Halfoat is an alcoholic Native American who curses the Americans and the Oil companies for stealing his land. Chief White Halfoat annoys Doc Daneeka and eventually decides to move to the hospital to die of pnemonia, a wish that comes true in the end.

Physical Traits: Chief White Halfoat is an indian with a large chest, a hard boned face, and tousled black hair.

Further Analysis of Chief White Halfoat: Chief White Halfoat doesn’t seem like as much  of an anti-war statement as other characters. Instead Heller uses Chief White Halfoat as a statement about america and perhaps that America should take care of its own problems, in this case its treatment of Native Americans, before delving into conflicts over seas.
